Every street works unit is tested in the same format, so once you know how one works you know how all 10 work.
How the theory test is set
Each street works certificate is assessed by a theory test of 20 multiple-choice questions, each with four options and one correct answer, to be answered in 45 minutes. You need 16 correct out of 20 — 80% — to pass. Units that also have a practical element are assessed separately for that part.
The same format applies to every unit, which is why the app uses one mock structure across all 10 certificates rather than a different one per unit.
Open book, but not a reading exercise
Several units are sat with the relevant document to hand. That sounds generous until you are 45 minutes into 20 questions and still turning pages. The skill being tested is knowing your way around the document — which is why the app includes look-up drills that give you a heading and ask which document and section it lives under.
What the app's mock does
- Draws a fresh 20 questions from that certificate's own bank each time.
- Runs a 45-minute countdown.
- Marks against 16/20 and tells you pass or not passed.
- Shows every question afterwards with the explanation and its source reference.
